Clocks in Wigan

• In the 16^th Century, Wigan Clock making industry was rivalling the big clock making power houses such as London. Even today Wigan clocks from that time period are more valuable due to their rarity.
• The clock maker Is John Burges. He Died in 1754 aged around 65. One of his long case clock is standing in Wigan Library.
• Some of his clocks are signed with ‘De Wigan’
• John Burges once also made a 8 day clock
