Image of a plaque which reads:- "Near this site formerly stood the old Leigh Grammar School.  Rebuilt in the year 1719 through the efforts or Ralph Pilling.  Master 1699-1726.  Demolished 24th March, 1920.  Sint maecenates non deerunt ecce marones"
