Records and photographs concerning Leigh Girls' Grammar School.
These records were catalogued and digitised as part of the Leigh Grammar Schools Heritage Project, a collaboration between Healthy Arts, Bedford High School and Wigan Archives & Local Studies, supported by The National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The project has created opportunities for three young heritage interns to be trained within the Archives Service as well as involving Young Heritage Volunteers from Bedford High School in leading and running the project. Oral histories and artefacts gathered in a series of workshops led to the development of a celebratory event with interactive performances and a photographic display. The twelve month project explored the memories of former students 40 years after the schools closed and shared them with current pupils and the community in celebratory events and workshops.
These resources are a lasting legacy of the Project and will continue to be developed as more digitised content is added to the web-pages.
