Black and white photograph of Garfin Family. From left to right, (Standing) Matthew Thorp B1889, George William Garfin B1889 enlisted in 12th Cheshire Regiment, (Seated) Tommy Garfin, Jack Garfin. Ralf Garfin. The three seated men are wearing jodhpurs but not other cavalry accoutrements, suggesting that they served with horses and wagons or limbers, e.g. Royal Artillery, Army Service Corps; Tommy Garvin, seated on the left, wears a brassard (armband) and a lanyard, suggesting some specialist appointment; Ralf Garvin seated right appears to have the single stripe of a lance corporal on his right arm; Matthew Thorpe standing left has the double stripe of a corporal and a lanyard. Most interestingly, Jack Garvin and Ralf Gavin both show on their right sleeves their war service stripes, five years for Jack 1914-19 and four years for Ralf 1914-18. Jack also shows on his left sleeve two wound stripes (one for each time wounded - not for each wound) and a 2-years good conduct stripe.
