This stunning mask probably belonged to a minor royal or high society woman buried when Egypt was at the height of its imperial power. It dates from the same dynasty as the reigns of Pharaoh Tutankhamun and Queen Nefertiti. The wooden mask is covered in fine gold leaf. The eyes are inlaid with copper and made from beautifully polished obsidian (volcanic glass) and crystalline. B24.029.
