Egyptian Shabtis or Ushabtis were small humanoid figurines that Egyptians buried with them in their tombs. From the New Kingdom (1550–1069 BC) to the Ptolemaic Period (332–30 BC), they believed that using a spell from the Book of the Dead would bring this figure to life as their servant during their afterlife.
