Plantation Gates and Other Lodges

Haigh's Plantation Gates were the formal entrance to the Haigh Hall Estate, accessed via Wigan Lane. The attached lodge was the residence of the gatekeeper. The lodge was operational from the 1840s until at least the 1970s.

This collection showcases some of the history of this landmark and some of the other gate lodges (such as Hall Lodge and Mowpin Lodge) : the people who lived there, the duties of the lodge keeper, and the guests who passed through the gates.
