Lord Balniel and Wigan Mayor E Ball visit Parbold, and play cricket with members of Wigan Boys Club. The Boys Club were camping at Parbold in their barge named the 'The Duke of Gloucester'. The visit took place on 15 August 1938. Lord Balniel is the courtesy title given to the Earl of Crawford's eldest son. David Alexander Robert Lindsay became 28th Earl of Crawford (11th Earl of Balcarres) after his father's death in 1940.
