Two women operating machines for winding rubber thread at Anchor Cable Works, Leigh. Taken during the Second World War in February 1944. On the wall is the slogan 'For Victory's sake take extra care / We've neither time nor tools to spare....' Anchor Cable Works became part of British Insulated Callender's Cable (BICC).
